Airimba, the new 4-letter word

Feedback Problem for Meadowbrook Village

If there was such a thing as a 7-letter word that makes you crazy, then it would be Airimba. I have been here over 2 years and have experienced 0-1-2 bars "as the norm." This translates into 'poor signal strength.' Again, that seems to be Airimba's standard. I have countless times, called Airimba, called the Meadowbrook office, have spoken with McKinley's Regional personnell and internet folks, as well as, have met with Airimba technicians. Still, NO improvement. In the last 4 weeks, my neighbor also gave it 'the ole college try,' yet, even after the...

Just to clarify, internet does improve the day of the call, etc. However, within a day or two, its back to their norm, which is poor signal strength or NO signal strength. In fact, when I just now, attempted to click on the "update" button, again, connection was lost. Please help! Cathy, Michigan and State Mom!

Kathy, thank you for taking the time to let us know that the problem with Airimba service still exists. New equipment were installed about two weeks ago. I will contact them today to see how we can solve this issue.

Please know that your concerns are very important to us and I will keep you informed.

Thank you Charlotte and smarkell (smile) for your attention to this matter of such importance, to me!

I am enclosing an excerpt of the email I sent to the McKinley IT gentlemen who were here today, and PROMPTLY addressed my (our) issues. Yes, I am back online with near-lightning speed. Wahoo!!!!!

Dear Viren and Jeff
[In addition to some history of my tickets numbers, my exasperation that airimba claimed they have no ticket numbers available....here is my feedback for today:]
An important reflection of your visit to my apartment today, is that in the past, Airimba tech gave me different instructions on how to handle the internet vs the instructions you gave me today. To clarify, you instructed me to only 'save' one connection at a time

Today, you two gentlemen have given me a glimmer of hope, again!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will keep you posted on how my connection (hopefully) continues...

Again, thank you, Cathy

As I reported to our McKinley Information Services, as the day went on, yesterday, Friday, my internet signal became weak, then interruptive...then gone. yikes! Yes, they have kept in touch with me, yesterday, and are following up today with dealing with the airimba people themselves. Oh yeah! In the interim, they instructed me to change connections from Meadow F to E.

I can't wait because this morning my connection is soooo slow (2.0 Mbps. Yesterday, they had me connected when it was at 18.0 Mbps). Like I was told, the bars do not mean much. When I was at 18Mbps, I had 1 bar. Today, i have 2 bars and am at 2Mbps (No I did not know about any of this...Our Service people showed me this yesterday)

This is to request others with the same problem to please speak up. I have spoken with many people with the same problem whom have not yet reported it. Our complex is willing to work on anything, THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT !!!

Today, Sunday, everything is back to the way it was! Lousy! Poor connection! No connections available! Airimba rep never showed up Sat., as previously promised (typical Airimba response!)

Meadow E is 'supposed to be the assigned connection' for my Unit. Then, Sat morning, it dropped to 5.5 >2 >then 1 MBPS....SOOOOOO very slowwww...

Eventually, IT DISAPPEARED! (also, typical). Not only did it disappear yesterday, it is still GONE, today!!!

At this point, I have attempted to be of good faith. Had to find another 'poor connection,' so I can post this. I have spent countless hours and days and weeks and months with Airimba and McKinley support. I have been bumped off line 1 toooooo many times, especially concerned when this repeatedly happened with banking, completing online class material, etc. Not to mention the family info I do not get because I can not get online.

I am done!

Oh, btw, thanks for this Happy Mothers Day Event

Conclusionary Thought! I am in a dead-zone! Thank you McKinley .

Yesterday, Thursday, May 20, 2010, Airimba rep, John came by. Coincidentally, my internet connection was acting, the usual way, i.e., interruptive and absent. (One of my sons, a UM grad & Naval Pitt Dentist was here to assist & collaborate with airimba rep).

For over 2 years, I have been told the same thing, 1) My Unit is set to receive from Meadow E. Problem: It's not often available!

Then, as with 3 weeks ago and for the last 2-1/2 years, McKinley reps were here and instructed me to connect with Meadow F. Problem: It is inconsistent and at times, not available. McKinley IT called me to resolve the F connection by recommending I instead connect to Airimba's network assignment of E. Again, so I did with same pooooooorrrrr connection result. (See also comments of May 8)

Yesterday, the airimba rep now recommends Meadow G. He told me 1) there were birds nests at their receivers outside, (something our McKinley maintenance does NOT maintain!) 2) That he 'turned' another receiver, so as to enhance the direction of signal and 3) That the outside receiver that is designed for my unit, has to go through 10 walls to get to me. yikes! no wonder my service is soooo poor. I am in a dead-zone!

Additionally, I did learn from Airimba phone tech, repeatedly, for over 2-1/2 years, that McKinley has us on one of their 'low-service-programs" which will cause lack of service during high-usage-times, i.e., early evenings/evenings, etc. It was further explained to me that McKinley would have to increase their 'program' for us to get consistent service. I realize that this is a business decision that only a landlord can make, however, it has resulted in poor service FOR EVERYONE AROUND ME! I am NOT alone with this problem. I just happen to be "Mike-y" who's finally speaking up.

Today's status... G is inconsistent and at times, not available. I have had to reconnect multiple multiple times today. [NO, I do not 'save' more than 1 network at a time! per Viren's instructions of May 8th].

For tech support, when I am able to get online, here are the maximum readings that I am getting, today, during low-usage-hours: G is at 11.0 Mbps, E is at 1.1Mbps, F is at 5.5. No 18Mbps. No 54Mbps! No continuous service while writing this Post.

I recommend to you, McKinley, that you reevaluate this high rent, in your luxury apartment, poor services and dwindling amenities that you offered to me, at move-in, than took away, mid-contract. Management has called all these amenities, internet, cable, faxing, copying, sprinklers, etc, freebies and that they can change amenities at any times. Attorneys have told me that this is also called bait-and-switch.

Furthermore, I do not appreciate the jump in water bills, as ISTA explained to me that we, the residents, were now being charged for pool water and sprinklers, which for my area, the sprinklers are broken and were shut off last year, yet, my bill or rent has not reflected any of these lack of services.

Now that I finally have realized what this poor internet connection is all about, I am angry that McKinley, knowingly! has put me through all this. McKinley IT had to know this is a dead-zone and never once offered me $30.00 or so, off my rent so I could obtain another provider.

As a matter of fact, I was in the office in the past month and specifically asked for $30.00 off my rent and was denied. Please take care of others.

Dear Cathy,

Thank you for continuing to provide feedback regarding the Airimba issues. I understand your frustration with the process involved in getting the Airimba system to provide a consistent signal to your home and apologize for the inconvenience it has caused you. We have and will continue to work with Airimba to sort through the problem. As discussed, I welcome the opportunity to work toward a possible solution with you
