Good afternoon, Residents!
I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful summer we are having! I wanted to put a general reminder of our grilling policy here for everyone to see as it is prime grilling season.
Per the City of Ann Arbor, charcoal burners and gas grills are not to be used or operated within 10 feet of any building, balconies or patios. In addition to this law, propane cylinders/tanks greater than 1 lb LP-gas (2.7lb water capacity) are not to be located on any patios or balconies. Storage of such cylinders/tanks are acceptable within your home as long as the tank capacity is less than 2lb LP-gas (5.4lb water capacity). Electric grills are acceptable and allowed to be used on your patio or balcony.
Please note, your Resident Handbook also states, “No charcoal, barbeque or other fires are permitted on balconies, patios or common areas in the apartment. The storage of firearms, kerosene, gasoline or other flammable or explosive agents is prohibited.”
It is imperative that anyone with a grill located on their patio or balcony make any necessary changes to avoid a lease violation.
You are more than welcome to grill in any of the open spaces around our buildings or by our pond on the other side of Brookfield Drive.
Please feel free to contact the office if you have any questions.
