Feedback Question for Glencoe Hills

Is it possible to have autopay set up for rent to be charged automatically to my card?

Hi Lydia,

We currently do not have the autopay feature set up for My.McKinley.com. However, if you call into the office, I believe they can set up an autopay plan for you.

Regards,
James Vuong

I realize business is business but I think companies should always have exceptions to "rules". Some compassion would be nice to see in today's business world. Take this for what it's worth...improve your Public Relations.

My first impressions of Glencoe Hills Apartments was ruined by the staff who seemed arrogant and uncaring.
Maybe they don't have the "authority" to bend a few "rules", but they could show some compassion to furture residents if they approached them with some sense of concern.

My husband was to be admitted for a bone marrow transplant at UofM and would be in the hospital for a month. After transplant we would have to stay near the hospital (because we live too far away) for 100 days. UofM gave us a list of places to rent but all were VERY EXPENSIVE. Needless to say this medical situation was already financially draining so I decided to look for a place myself. I found someone who has 3 months left on his lease and wanted someone to take over. The price was right, the location seemed ideal, the apartments appeared fairly well kept. My first complaint was that the management wanted me to pay $40 application fee for myself AND MY HUSBAND. Under our circumstances, I don't feel my husband was a "safety" threat and therefore didn't need a criminal background check. The apartment was in MY NAME so I should be the only one who needed a "credit check". My point is, UNDER OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, they should have been able to accommodate us with just ONE APPLICATION FEE. I'm not saying that this shouldn't be part of the application process, I'm saying there should be a little flexibility on your criteria for who you need credit/criminal checks on.

Also my husband's transplant was delayed a month for health reasons and so I had to extend my lease by a month. I understand your position on why you need to charge higher rates when the lease is by month to month. But again, I feel there could be some leniency to some renters depending on their circumstances.
My rent went to $679.00 to over $800. Again this is another hardship on top of an already stressful situation.
It would be nice to see BIG CORPORATIONS have a heart for people who have the unfortunate fate of getting cancer.

I am writing to you to suggest that maybe you could coordinate with UofM cancer center to provide "affordable"
rent to their cancer patients. Maybe you could offer ONE APARTMENT (out of all the apartments at Glencoe Hills)
on a yearly basis for a "reduced" rate. Or perhaps FREE! I'am sure this could be a great tax deduction, plus it would be a great for your public relations.

I guess if you want something positive about the staff working at Glencoe Hills, they are out to make money for the company at any cost!!!! I hope you will open your heart to helping the patients at the UofM cancer center by providing housing for the people who are already struggling with multiple issues---health, medical expenses, employment, etc.

Thanks for letting me express my feelings. Over all I have found our apartment to be quite nice. A few minor maintence issues and a noisy (mainly at night) upstairs tenant are my only complaints.

Sincerely,
Mary Abbott
