St. Patrick’s Day in Dallas-Fort Worth

Good Morning All…

Saturday March 17, 2012 is St. Patrick ’s Day. I thought you might be interested in some of the events that Dallas and Fort Worth has planned for the big day.

Dallas

2012 Greenville Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day parade, starting at 11 a.m.

From there, it's on to the 2012 Greenville Avenue St. Patrick's Day Post-Parade Concert, at the corner of Greenville Ave&University Boulevard, beginning at 12 noon with Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses, and Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights.

Early risers can either do the 2011 Dash Down Greenville, a 5K run, or else hit one of the various crack-o-dawn parties. Kegs & Eggs at Bar Louie in Fort Worth is first out of the gate at 7 a.m. Trinity Hall's starts at 7:30 a.m., with rugby matches and traditional Irish breakfast offerings, a lively array of Irish bands, and a special appearance by the Dallas Firefighters Pipes & Drums. The Dubliner opens at 8 a.m., as does Duke's Original Roadhouse. At 9 a.m., Capitol Pub and the Barley House kick in, and at 10 a.m., it's Flying Saucer on the Lake, plus Holy Grail Pub, and, well, every other Irish pub in town (and some not so Irish).

St. Paddy’s Parade After-Party
There's also an after party at the Granada Theater that begins at noon with beer, $5 tacos (beef or black bean) and BBQ brisket sandwiches, and a night of music with Band of Skulls, We are Augustines, and The Commotion starting at 8 p.m.

Fort Worth
2012 Cowtown Goes Green

Fort Worth hosts its own annual St. Pat's event: 2011 Cowtown Goes Green from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. Along with face painting and Radio Disney contests for the kids, there's live music, gunfights, and a Western/Irish "Cowtown Goes Green" parade down Exchange Avenue, with local businesses, horseback riding clubs, radio stations, and more.

That night, Chef Point Cafe in Watauga is doing a St. Patrick's dinner featuring corned beef & cabbage.

Also in Fort Worth is the Impossible Possibilities St. Patrick's Day 5K Festival with a 5K run/walk, 1-mile kids' race, country music, sponsor expo, kid zone, and food and beverages. The course starts and finish at the Trinity Park Trails.

Enjoy your St. Patrick’s day
