Power Outage on Thursday
OUC will be out in the morning to replace one more transformer at the front of the Community. This will affect buildings 4403&4405, as well as our rental office. We do apologize for the inconvenience as this will cause the Wi-Fi to be out for a bit as well through out our Community. The OUC representative said that they will begin work around 8:00 am and should be finished within two hours..
Please call me if you have any questions, again I am very sorry for the short notice.
Thank you,

Really Cool Award
Hello Pines Neighbors!
I just saw something really neat in the office at The Pines! Our community manager, Jeanette just awarded some prizes and gift cards to two young men who were caught doing something nice for the good of our entire community. These two young men spent several hours picking up pet waste from our grounds and completely deserved their reward!
I also ask each of you pet owners to take as much pride in our community as these young residents do!
If you see anything cool happening at the Pines or anything that needs improvement, let me know!

Don't forget to turn your clock back on Sunday
By James McGinnis Staff writer
Once again, we’re heading back in time, though most of us will just sleep through it. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday as clocks fall back one hour.
Recent scientific studies suggest the benefits extend far beyond the extra 60 minutes of sleep. Standard time is slightly easier on the body, according to researchers. Yet time, it seems, is never really on our side. “We’re not 100 percent certain why this is but it seems that the clocks of most people run a bit slower than 24 hours, making it more natural to wake up slightly later each day,” said Isaac Edery, Rutgers professor of molecular biology and biochemistry.
The first daylight saving time was instituted by the U.S. government in 1918 as a means to conserve fuel, which was in short supply after World War I.
Trick or Treat
Halloween is a time when families can enjoy spending time together by carving pumpkins, dressing up in costumes and going trick-or-treating in the neighborhood
It can be a remarkable night, so its important to fallow some rules. Instead of just stating the rules, playing games will encourage active learning and add to the Halloween festivities.
Candy Chart
Use glue and a piece of cardboard to create a candy chart. Glue on wrapped candy, opened candy and random items like colored pills or vitamins. Show the chart to children and point to each piece of candy. Have them guess whether it is safe to take and eat. Explain why each piece is safe or unsafe. The colorful chart will help keep the child's attention while he learns about different candy types.
Trick or Treat PracticeUse the backdoor of your house or a closed door to a room to have "Trick or Treat Practice." Have the child knock on the door, use manners and learn the basics of trick or treating. Teach them never to touch the person, enter their home or reveal personal information about themselves. Try five or six different scenarios so children understand.
Halloween Dress-Up RaceTurn a fun dress-up game into a safety lesson. Fill a bin with a mix of costumes, regular clothes and proper safety items like reflectors and flashlights. Leave the bin in the center of the room and have each child start at one side. The goal of the game is to race, put on the full costume and grab all the proper safety tools needed for Halloween. Tools may vary from flashlights to glow sticks and even cell phone for older children.
Halloween Safety SongSit in a circle and sing the "Halloween Song" to the children. After each verse, point to a child and have her sing a safety rule for Halloween. Different rules include "No Running," "Stay with a friend at all times" and "Never take opened candy." Continue this until you have covered all the rules.
Street Safety GameDraw different road signs on sheets of paper. USA Traffic Signs also features pictures of common signs that you can print out on the computer. Have the children walk down the hall and raise different signs. Teach them what to do at each sign and how to obey it.
The most important thing is for your little ones is to stop, look and than cross.
We will have treats for the kids in the office today, but you know me, I will ask for at least one Safety Rule! Be Safe~Happy Halloween from The Pines
Labor Day Weekend, please dont forget to drop your rent off today :)
Labor Day is a national legal holiday that is over 100 years old. Over the years, it has evolved from a purely labor union celebration into a general "last fling of summer" festival.
It grew out of a celebration and parade in honor of the working class by the Knights of Labor in 1882 in New York. In 1884, the Knights held a large parade in New York City celebrating the working class. The parade was held on the first Monday in September. The Knights passed a resolution to hold all future parades on the same day, designated by them as Labor Day
I hope everyone has a VERY safe and Happy Labor Day weekend, just a reminder that our office will be closed on Monday, please dont forget to drop your rent off to today to avoid that $100 late fee!
